It is with the heaviest of hearts that we dedicate tonight's Masquerade ball to our darling Liz Goodwin, our Director and co-founder, who sadly passed away earlier in the year. Liz was born into an amazing family and lived an incredible life in her short 32 years.

She optimized courageous, was beyond generous, was brave beyond measure, lived life to the fullest, loved with her whole heart and her smile always lit up the room. She was an amazing Mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, Aunty, friend, and was loved by all who knew her. Her dedication to causes close to her heart cannot be matched by many, especially to our charity.

Lizzy was passionate and determined to raise awareness and funds for bowel disease given her chronic experience with crohns. Lizzy always said 'poo isn't pretty' and believe this to be the reason that bowel disease can be a taboo subject and doesn't receive as much attention as other causes. She was determined for this to change.

Our pledge to Lizzy is to donate any funds raised tonight, in excess of our HMRI grant, to her beautiful son Benjamin. We know he is wrapped up in love and will always know how amazing his beautiful Mum was but we hope that this small gesture will help him in some way in the future.

To strong women - may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.
